Super Bowl: Sliders and Wings
The Super Bowl is one of the greatest times of the year.  Not only is there awesome football on the TV, but there is also awesome cooking shows on the Food Network and recipes on the various recipe sites.  They all are geared towards Super Bowl food.

Two years ago I had a super bowl party at my house and I made pulled BBQ chicken.  Last year we went to Brian's house and I brought 4 different kinds of wings.  This year I had it again at my house.  I decided to make a buffet of sliders.  I went with the classic beef slider, a turkey teriyaki slider and a Mexican veggie slider.  So I wasn't standing at the stove the whole night, I decided to use a trick I saw in one recipe to make a thin layer of the slider fillings and bake it. After its done you just cut into slider form.

This worked out nicely for most, except the veggie.  I had a feeling it wouldn't work for that.  Every time I have tried to make veggie burgera they've always come out crumbly.  It was still really good though.  So I would definitely try the recipe again, but this time using a skillet to fry them like the recipe suggests.  The beef burgers were the best out of all of them.  The turkey burgers were not as firm as I would like - they were solid, but mushy.

I also made buffalo wings, because it wouldn't be a football party without wings.  To make it easier on myself, I tried to cook them in the slow cooker.  I emphasize tried because I put all of the ingredients in the slow cooker, turned it on and then left, only to realize I never actually plugged it into the outlet.  So I tried to play catchup by putting it on high.  It didn't work.  Just before the people were supposed to arrive I cut one open to see it nice and raw.  I made an executive decision to go out in the snow and grill them.  I like wings crispy so it was for the best.  Below is a little slideshow i put together of the steps for the wings.  I would try them again (plugging it in this time), but I would still either grill or broil the wings before serving for the crispiness.

On to the recipes.  Note, because there are 4 recipes, I am pretty much just copying them from the website I took them from.  I did make some changes to the recipe and will change it below.  The original recipes are linked in the recipe title.

      • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
      • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
      • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
      • 1/8 teaspoon salt

      5. It doesn't form patties like the rest, but you can scoop it out and slather it onto the buns and enjoy how delicious it is.
      6. I made a chipolte mayo to put on top that is different then the one from this website.
        1. Mix 1 cup mayonnaise, 2 chipotles in adobo sauce chopped, 1 tablespoon adobo sauce, 1/2 lime juice, Salt and freshly ground black pepper (REFERENCE!!!)

And now for a time lapse of the party.  I had my computer setup to take a picture every 30 seconds of the whole party.  Its not too interesting because its just us watching TV and also it's a little hard to see because it's dark.  Towards the end, look at Steve and how many different poses he does.  Enjoy!
